Have a SeaLand in our Class B. It has been flawless for 10 years.

Been shopping a replacement for our FC31. Still can't find anything
that looks better than SeaLand 10 years later.

Haven't heard anything good here on the forum about toilets that use
power to flush. Of course you can get one from Japan that will wash
and dry your tush for you. Hahahahaha. Sheesh!

Who makes the best toilet?
Will they fit in place of an OEM Bluebird toilet without a lot of
modifications? Is it really necessary to pay for a mascerator just to dump
straight down into the black tank thru a 3" pipe?

Tom - I think you are asking the right question. In a marine
application, the holding tanks probably need to be pumped out rather
than dumped by gravity. Pumping is simpler if the sewage has been
through a macerator. I don't have much experience with ground-up
sewage - but it seems like the tank sediment problem would just get
worse when the chunks become soup.

Bob Griesel ('84 FC31 WLII) who likes to keep stuff simple when
possible.

Who makes the best toilet?
New toilet. A requirement for me in any used coach, kind of a
cleanliness thing.

The best manual ceramic toilet I've owned is the SeaLand. Kind of
primitive looking on the outside, but the basic design makes it easy to
sanitize. A good flushing and sealing toilet.

The Thetford ceramic has a single-point water outlet when flushing,
usually doesn't do the job even with shore-water pressure. I had one,
wouldn't own another one. Also, the Thetford has a skirt around the
bottom, which can trap water that runs down the outside under the
toilet where it can't easily be cleaned. Not IMO a well thought-out
design.

The best plastic manual one I've owned is the Thetford Bravura. A
larger oval seat more like a house size/shape without taking much extra
space, and the flush water pulses around the entire rim underside.
Still has the skirt of the other Thetford, but better flushing and
bigger bowl without much extra clearance necessary. Easier to clean and
to flush.

The high-end Thetford electric model looks very nice, but I haven't yet
felt that I wanted to allow the extra space the toilet takes.

Yeah, now that's nice. Will that work as a replacement for the air-
flush models?
