Cruise-Air parts.

Cruise-Air parts.
have three Curise-airs in my '83 FC. Two work but the center one has
a bad compressor. I've been through the capacitors, etc. so I am
pretty sure.
I got a price today of $620 from AAP for the compressor, drier and
adapters for the new drier. That is without shipping or the cost of
having someone replace the parts and recharge the system. I can get a
good rate on the labor, but still it will be $800+ in the end.

Has anyone found better prices on parts?

The rear unit evaproator is about two feet from the center one. I am
thinking about adding a duct with a two way deflector from the rear
unit to the center unit vent and switching between the bedroom or
kitchen area as needed. Perhaps if we decide to head for the ultra
hot climates after retirement I will spend the money, but for now
this seems like a good compromise. Has anyone done this?

I am not interested in roof units.

Hey, Gardner,
That's a great price for a compressor as previous poster says costs
was $2,100.
Is this a new one or a rebuilt one?
Also, where do I find AAP on the web, gotta look at that!

Bob,

The link to AAP is in the "Parts" Database on the forum site, under
Cruise Air.

I got the price over the phone. It is a new compressor, but not the
whole condenser. I believe the complete unit is $2200 or so. Shane
bought one last year.

Cruise-Air parts.
I'm not an ac guy but I had to have a compressor replaced on my 82 PT
40 cruise air unit. My next door neighbor(an ac guy)looked at the
compressor after I pulled the unit out and said that is the same
compressor that is used in a water fountain. I don't know if it is
or not but the unit worked after he put it back together. Did not
cost much. Mike Mcmahan 96 42' Wanderlodge
