6" SS EXHAUST STACK

Unfortunate News,

I received news this morning that Bluebird is unable to supply exhaust pipes for the PT 42 Coaches. Unfortunate but not surprising. I had already begun fabrication of a system in lieu of such an event and I have started manufacturing a 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust systems for the PT 42.

The new exhaust system has some modifications to improve it's scavenging capabilities and for simplification of installation. I have reduced the system to three bends from four bends. Installed a SS Flex coupler with a SS liner designed for heavy flow turbocharger applications, SS V-Band clamps with SS Machined Flanges to connect all the sections, A SS 5" Stack with internal baffles with a sound absorbing ceramic coating. This stack is designed by the race car sector and while not as quite as a muffler it is better than a straight pipe and does not reduce or restrict exhaust flow. Also available is a SS Muffler that is compatible with this exhaust system and could be used in place of the aforementioned pipe, I choose not to use it due to back ordered status and it is 3X the price of the custom built stack. Some SS and chrome plated hangers supports and stack clamps.

The original mounting hardware will be discarded as well. The support arm that is mounted to the engine is designed to support the pipes, but in my estimation it only contributes to added vibration to the pipes.. In lieu of that support there will be a flexible hanger mounted to the ceiling of the engine bay and clamped after the flex connector, ( not in front of it as in the original design ), to support the middle section of pipe.

I am also having exhaust blankets made for all pipe systems in the coach, Exhaust, Air Exchanger, Radiator. Air Induction, Air Filter, While I have read as much as I could, and considered all of the Pros and Cons of exhaust blankets I have formulated the opinion the due to the heat, all types of heat, generated by the motor in the engine bay. That it's effect on all systems are compromised and it's corresponding effect on the potential gains in efficiency cannot be attained without them.

In the past 2 ½ years of having my coach serviced at Prevost in Nashville I have queried every coach owner I've meet on MPG of their coaches in casual conversation. The one constant observation I have made is the coaches that claim the best mileage all have insulated plumbing. Not imperial evidence but it cannot be ignored.

So in conclusion. Necessity is the Mother of Invention. The results will be a rust proof and greatly strengthen & enhanced exhaust system. If practical and feasible, I may offer this exhaust system to the public once that has been determined.

Looking back at some of these past posts, I should mention that I broke down and pulled up the carpet in the bedroom over the doghouse. No access!!!!!!!!!!!!
