Chris,
Thanks for the recommendation. We took the explore to Childers
Garage at 9 am and was done and ready for pickup at 10:30 for less
than $187. Replaced serpentine belt, tensioner and put a charge on
battery since it was low. Now that is service at a very resonable
rate and I recommend this garage if you are in Fort Valley and need
work on your vehicle.

Also as a side note, tell me about your alternative fuel work. I
make and use Biodiesel in my vehicles.

Chris,

Are you based in Fort Valley? What sort of Alternative Fuels do you work with?

As a complete aside, are reservations required to stay at the nest, and if not, does anyone know what hours one can just show up at?

I am not Chris but I can answer the Nest part of your question.

Reservations are not required to stay at the Nest and there is
no "time" limitations on showing up. When you arrive find an empty
spot and park. They ask that you sign the book in the club house so
the guards could find you if needed.

Have fun.

Marv,

Thanks! I drove by the nest yesterday pulling a horse
trailer full of furniture on my way back from cleaning out my moms
house in Florida. It's only about 85 miles from my house, so perhaps a
little weekend expedition is in order to check it out Smile

I'm a little un-informed, what functions still go on at the plant in Fort Valley?

Mechanic in Fort Valley
Hello again,

The Nest is a nice place to camp. A few years ago they used to serve
lunch to those who were camped there. I think it started to provide
a place to eat for those who were having work done on their coaches
but evolved to serve to anyone camped in the Nest. Things have
changed over the years not only at Blue Bird but at every business.
Attempts to cut costs have become necessary if you are to stay in
business.

As far as what goes on in Ft. Valley; the school bus division is
across Hwy. 96 from the Wanderlodge factory. They also still make
Wanderlodges there. Cerebrus and some of the previous owners had
moved some of the school but stuff out of Ft. Valley but I think it
has been moved back. If you go there to came take the tour through
the Wanderlodge factory. It is interesting particularly to owners.

As an aside, last year when we were in Ft. Valley I drove over to
Dublin and bought some new tires for the steering axle at a place
called Duncan Tire. I would recommend them to anyone that is in that
area. They treated me as good as anyone could expect to be treated.
I was going to have them align the tires and they put it on the
machine and told me it didn't need it. They didn't charge me
anything for that either.

Go try out the Bird's Nest. You will have a quiet time.
