Cost of a radiator and blankets on exhaust

Hi group,
Got a couple of questions for you.
I need these answeres for Powell Brown who has an 88 PT40 with the 8v92.
He needs a new radiator and wants to find out the price on one and
where can it be found?
He also has blankets on his exhaust and wants to know if he should
remove them so exhaust can disapate the heat better. I would imagine
there are pros and cons to this and I need to get the info to him.

What do you all think about the blankets and where to get a rad?

Blankets keep heat in the exhaust system so it does not disapate
into the engine compartment and heat the electronics and hoses. heat
goes out the pipe with the air. Radiators cost is dependant on the
market cost of materials. I would think it to be about $2,500 for a
core, was $3800 in the summer. the top tank and bottom tank are
bolted on to be reused with a new core. there are many threads in
the forum search about radiators costs and opinions.

3 1/2 years ago my radiator failed while on the road. Because the
radiator shop in Burns, OR told me that my radiator was not a standard
size. It had to be custom built. I believe it cost $2800 for the
radiator core plus a couple of hundred dollars for the radiator shop
to install the new core. The labor to replace the radiator was about
$2000.

Hi Eric,
Powell was quoted $3500 in Corpus. I would have thought it could be had
a LOT cheaper than that....guess I'm wrong.
