Generator Pre-Heat

I do not have any juice to the glo-plugs on my Yanmar generator
engine. Anyone have any troubleshooting tips before I start
investigating?

Scott, the pre heat power to the glow plugs goes through a solenoid on the
curb side of the gen set when opened. the coil of the solenoid is activated
by power through contacts of C-1 relay. That is activated by either
pressing the preheat switch on the control box or pressing the stop side of
the stop/start switch. Check the 12 vdc at the solenoid when pressing the
pre heat switch if power then solenoid is bad if no poser then go to the
fuse if fuse is ok then check the connectors on the terminal strip in side
the control box. follow your schematic. I make a copy of my schematic from
the book and mark the copy where I have made checks.

This is the same solenoid that powers the generator gauges, correct?

Scott, I have not traced the gauge power source, it could well be though. I
do not have a schematic of the gauges in the circuit. There is also a diode
in line in that area too, it is black, square about the size of a dime. C1
relay is a key in that circuit.

Scott,

I had this problem about 3 weeks ago. I found a replacement at NAPA. It is an
ST85, 85
amp continuous duty relay with copper contacts. It is located on the passenger
side of the
generator just to the rear and above the spin on fuel filter.

and plugs. They bypassed the canon plug and it starts perfect every
