Important note when replacing rear tires
I had new rear tires put on my coach today. The rear shocks
are right out in the open once the tires are off. New rear shocks from Blue Bird are only $54 each. I arranged for the tire guys to change my rear shocks when the tires were off. (Socket size 1.5 inches, also need an open end wrench for the lower shock mounts). New shocks take a lot of effort to extend and compress. The guy compressed my old shock, held it by one end, shook it gently and the bottom dropped down quickly and stopped with a loud clunk. This means it was worthless and doing nothing. He said he'd never seen a shock that bad and I haven't either. Maybe they were original, I don't know, but they were toast, I know that. If you're getting rear tires, get some rear shocks and have them done at the same time. I'll let you know about the difference in ride when I get to drive it, but I'll bet my wife won't get bounced out of bed anymore (not by the Bird, anyway).
