Kohler to Onan Replacement in 1980

Does anyone have info or lessons learned on replacing an original Kohler with a
newish Onan quiet diesel, the ones in the insullated box? I am looking at the
7.5 kW model.

I know that Scott Bishop did that to his '85FC, but he has sold "Ruby" now
and am not sure if he is monitoring this Forum or not at present.
