air step diagnosis

My air step is not working. If I apply power directly to the solinoids the step
goes in and out properly. The dash switch light stays on all the time. There
are three door switches in the door jamb. The lower one operates the step light
and I don't know what the top two operate. The relays seem very hot to touch
and they all have power. The pressure switch has power. The wire that supplies
power to the extend solinoid has power all the time if the door is open or
closed. The pressure strip has been removed and the end capped. The micro
switches cancel power when the button is pressed. If anyone can help me
troubleshoot this problem I would appreciate it. TIA Dan

Thanks Leroy, I am still enjoying the clock you made for me, thanks. I have a wiring diagram for the step in my blue box but the wire colors don't match with the relays. Do you know if the relays should be hot? And does the step and the light share the same switch? This step is a PITA.

I am not home with the coach and do not have my diagram. I don't recall the
light and step being on the same switch. There are either mercury or micro
switches associated with the step solenoid that can drive you nuts. I do not
remember my relays being hot.

They are a common door switch. Granger has them and I have seen them at some hardware stores. The closets at our home use the same switch to activate the closet light when the door is opened.

If low air in the bus tanks sends the step out, that might prove it to be the
door switch that has issue.

On ours one operates the step, one the Step Lights (inside and out), and one for the alarm. On our Wanderlodge they are all a NC switch. They open when depressed. Will your step activate from the dash switch or the switch near the door? We can exchange phone #s if you want.
