Propane air lock?
Seems like I have an occasional problem with my propane stove. We full time and
haven't had a problem until I put it in storage for 5 days when we went on a trip. I left the gas fridge running and it worked flawlessly. But, now I can't get the stove to light and I haven't changed a single thing. The tank indicator shows 3/4 of a tank and I'm positive it can't be anywhere close to empty. I've looked through the bluebook but can't find anything that helps. Any thoughts on why the stove won't light?? Jerry 85 PT40 |

When turning the burner knob to the the ignition setting do you hear a clicking sound? If so, that should be good. I have found I need to use a match or BBQ lighter sometimes. No sure why the ignition works intermittently. Good luck.

Propane air lock?
Curt,
Everything "clicks" correctly and the spark works. There is simply no gas coming out of the burners. Just after I bought the coach and drove to to SoCal from Missouri, I experienced the same thing on the trip out since it had been sitting. It's worked flawlessly on our trips and through daily living. But, I put it in storage for five days and now it doesn't want to let the gas flow to the burners. Airlock? Some electric valve not working? It worked fine on the fridge. Three shutoffs on mine: Manual valve at tank. Switch on dash. Switch on propane

Propane air lock?
Don brings up good points. Check those.
If all else fails, turn the propane off at the tank. After a minute, turn the propane back on. Try lighting the stove. Be sure the Frig. continues to function.ÃÂ ÃÂ I've added external (outside) propane outlets for BBQs to our propane system. That was an experience before getting everything to work. I do not recall the name of the spring loaded ball/diaphram in the propane line, but it was the problem to making the BBQ outlets work. It would shut down the propane flow and my guess is when energizing the BBQ lines the demand was too great (sensing it was a line blowout) and would shut down the flow of propane. Your system might be doing that.ÃÂ ÃÂ Curt Sprenger On Sun, Aug 2, 2009 at 8:38 PM, jburgessx2 <"jburgessx2@yahoo.com"> wrote:

One further note on the propane detector - I think it shuts off on loss of DC
power, and needs to be cycled off/on. Worth a try, especially if you had the master DC switched off during storage. Propane air lock?
My 1985 PT40 has a manual shut off valve under the lift up stove top and it has a pilot under there as well that you have to lite manually. It has no igniter on the stove.

Propane air lock?
Thanks for the confirmation. I had the propane turned off in this coach for the
past 7 months - the fridge works fine on DC when under way, and we usually have electric hookups. Needed to start using propane a couple of weeks ago, and couldn't get things lit - in the course of things tried I cycled the detector switch, but I wasn't positive that was what did it. DC had been off a couple of times during the 7 month period. Good deal. It's always (almost) a learning experience.
