Albuquerque Balloon Festival 2010
Rick, when you go this year, ask about the "no pets" policy on festival grounds.
Looks like they can stay with the RV but it does not describe how restricted it
is for walking and exercising pets.
"Are pets allowed at Balloon Fiesta Park?

No, except handicap assisting pets."

Also, check the distance between Standard RV parking and the balloon area.
Thanks.

I have been perusing their site for information. The dates for 2010 are October
2 - 9.

RV can reserve with a 50% deposit for 10 coaches or more. The reservation is
cancellable for a $10 fee weel into 2010. The balance will be due late August.

15 through August 31. PRESIDENT'S COMPOUND: $12.50 to July 14; then 50% July 15
through August 31.
ALL SITE TYPES: No Refunds after August 31, 2009

Heater Usage Not Allowed. No sewer/dump station available. $65.00 per night.

thanks, John. I may still be in Calif working.
On a side note- 20+ years ago we had an Executive and with 6 kids and 4 adults we went to the festival. It snowed, defrosters didn't work. Heaters quit and the driver- me asked that everyone please stop breathing asi it was fogging up the windows. The "good" old days.

The RV Parking rules read pets must be on a leash at all times. They are
allowed but I want to know what constitutes the Balloon Fiesta Park versus all
other areas.

Here's the Pets policy as stated in my 2009 information packet I got after
reserving my spot:

Pets: Keep all pets on leashes at all times. Pet litter must be cleaned up bu
owners (in bold print). Pets are not allowed on the Ballon Launch Field and
care should be ataken during launches, as some pets become frightened by the
sound of balloon burners.

So YOU CAN HAVE PETS AT THE BALLOON FESTIVAL, just not on the launch grounds.
I'm taking mine.

Here's further clarification from the RV site coordinator of the ABF:

Pets are permitted EVERYPLACE OUTSIDE the entrance gates where you would give
you admission tickets. This is the area encompassing the launch field, the
concession area and the rest of the small fenced in area surrounding the launch
field. ALL RV parking areas ARE OPEN to LEASHED pets. The Balloon Museum may
allow pets, but they have their own rules and I did not check with them. Pets
are PROBABLY okay on the museum grounds outside the museum.

As a further bit of info, there are still STANDARD sites available for the
entire festival, and limited parking (typically for Oct 5, 6 & 7 nights) in all
the rest of the RV areas. Even Presidential and VIP parking has openings, but
for limited duration.

I hope this clears up any confusion.
