Broken down in Montana!!
I replaced the two hoses to the compressor and started filling. After about 10
gal., leaking started on the passengers side front under the exhaust manifold.
Any suggestions? Should we replace both heads? How much do they cost? Any
advice?
Looks like we are going to be retowed to the Detroit center in Missoula

The hose from the compressor to the top of the engine, the engine end might be where the leak is coming from. Be sure to check it.

Hi Robert,
I have an 8v92 in a 1988 coach also. The 8v92 has o-rings at the top and bottom of the cylinder so if you overheat the engine just a little bit the liner seals will be compromised. This can result in oil to coolant leaks. So how high did the temps go before you were able to shut it down?Ron Maribito probably has the most recent experience with overheating his 8v92 and would be a good person to consult.
Good luck, and keep us posted. There are a lot of 8v92 owners here.

In the case of my coach: There was no overheating that showed up at anytime.
Engine was running completely within limits. Even after the O-ring failure, the
only indication of failure was in the oil temperature. Absolutely no change in
coolant temperature. All this leads me to believe the failure was due to a
product defect that took some time to surface.

Ah, I stand corrected. I thought it overheated.

I believe you will have to check that hose from the bed inspection panel.

Robert,

I am not familiar with that engine but I would first check to see if there is a
leak at one of the freeze plugs first. Then if you can see the leak between the
block and the head it just maybe a head gasket and check to see if there is any
antifreeze in the oil this one may be hard might need it sent out for a test.
Good luck
