"Mobile Internet Broadband" via Verizon cell connection
I picked up a PCMCIA card from Verizon during
a presentation Verizon made at the Mariners
game yesterday. This Notebook Card provides
access for a retail cost of $79 per month to
their new to the Seattle/Tacoma area EVDO
Service. I have been testing the speed and
it is great from my home in Federal Way.
Download is over 1000 while upload is over 100.

I am heading out today to a PNW Bird Retreat on
the Pacific Coast. I will be testing as we
travel and be giving a report for sure when I
return.

If the Broadband EVDO is not available, Verizon
cell service has 2 level to throttle back to.

1) EVDO = 1000+ download
2) NationalAccess = 100+ download
3) Quick = 14 download

The Quick is good enough for email and very
painful surfing.

Should be an interesting test.

Verizon gave me 30 days free and the card
which is available for $49 after rebates
they also gave to me (plus 500+ over
attendees to their Seattle rollout of
the EVDO Service).
