Good news on insurance, I think. FMCA has an ad in the current issue for GMAC insurance that allows you to "opt-out" of liability and collision coverage while the coach is in storage. You simply have to call and tell them the coach is "in or out" of storage to activate the coverage; otherwise comprehensive remains in effect. My phone quote would saveus about $800 a year on high limits coverage. This is less than half of current premium.
Also, I talked to my existing carrier and we can short rate the policy which we have already paid for and get a prorata refund on a per-day basis.

I second that! Just purchased the GMAC insurance and paid less than half what I was having to pay with Allstate. GMAC provided better coverage also.

I'm not sure what rates you are paying out there but the state of Michigan IS HIGH on rates. But I can tell you what my rates are.

I can take the bird off the road at any time. I can put the bird ON the road anytime. All with a phone call. the rate is

$4.13 per day when I am on the road and $1.98 per off road. If I am on the road for a year they charge $$1,507.45 a year

Just got my annual notice from State Farm here in California - $575.45 for the
Bird.

In 2004 I did $10K worth of damage my SOB. Had to pay $500 deductible and they
paid the $9500. I took out an RV park utility box a couple of years ago with the
Bird and they paid the $1K+ bill with no deductible. My rates went up $50
(total) for the six months after that first incident, no change for the second.

So, at current rates, they've paid out about 18 years worth of premiums!
