no power rear load centers? 82 FC 35 SB
Hi group also posted on WOG but no replies yet.
Hi group, I need to sign up for a session in the bb school in dc in our birds, use of a digital multimeter...I can understand a light bulb going off n on tester..haha! Seriously dumb on the multimeter, kept rereading instructions kept getting nothing....well with the simple test light there is nothing...so. This isnt a dire emergency. All things I use work, its just the galley water pump and i have it jump wired to a spare battery under sink for now. Guess I'm not using anything needed in those centers...haha. simple reading lights, radio, genny ..now where is water pump power source from within the bus? Been equip watch since mid Jan in coast range, bout 30 miles from home. Bus hasnt been down the mtn since, tho I make trips home to mow, weed eat, shower. Fill water jugs etc. Well I recently got undumb about how to get water into the bird without driving her down the mountain...or spending $bucks for a pickup water tank plus already have a tool box and aux diesel tank/pump in the pickup bed....(duh 55 gal food grade plastic barrel n old spare parr pump) Water in the bird. ..rock n roll No juice to pump or anything in rear load panels? Maybe even front and left side load center. Fuses all appear intact but no lite with tester on anything. Havent used the water pump since tank empty in Feb and we had snow snow and cold all winter up here. showered at home no big deal at the time. Dont know what happened, ground, short, fuse...mouse?? Just changed job sites and have internet very lo but... Will be here a month or more...yes. I can use text well from this location anywhere but have to be outside about 10 feet from the bus to talk.... Let school begin. no power rear load centers? 82 FC 35 SB
Hello Rose Mary:
We are not going to worry about learning to use a meter right now, but we do need to be sure your test light is working so lets start with checking it out. Open the battery compartment out side under the drivers seat area. Then place the clamp lead on the NEG terminal of a battery and touch the tip of the test light to the positive terminal and the test light should light. If not toss it and get another at Napa or ORilys auto parts and repeat. If the test light is lighting up, you now have a known useable test tool. First of all, check the Master 12 vdc cut off switch, located by your right knee as you sit in the drivers seat and reaching under the dash with your right hand. From there the Master power goes through 2 circuit breakers, one is 100 amp from the Master switch and the other is 50 amp. Both of those are located at the base of the steering column and may be tripped. Find a ground for your known good test tool and clip it then check both sides of the breakers to see if there is power. Now then the Master power comes from those 2 breakers to the left front load center and ties in on a single isolated stud. You should see 4 or 5 large 1/0 red wires tied together. if you look further intoo that same area you will find a solid brass bar about 1 inch wide near the cusp of the rounded roof line and that is ground. clip your test light to the solid bar and check for a light at the 4 or 5 red wire tie in. The master power goes from that tie in to the rear load centers. Find the left rear load center, (drivers side in over head toward front, and the circuit breaker for your water pump is located there, it should have a green wire not sure of the number, but you can look at the wiring diagram either in the manual in the blue box or the one pasted to the inside of the load center cover, to tell you which breaker and wire you are looking for. Of course, find the large solid brass ground bar and check for a light (12vdc) at the incoming isolated stud found there to the main buss. Will stop at this point and wait for your findings.
