A/C Compressor Clutch

A/C Compressor Clutch
Does anyone know who manufactured the compressor on a 92WB40 with 8V92 engine?

I have a clutch that has apparently gone bad or the air gap is too large because
of wear. There is power going to the clutch but it is not pulling in.

I have not pulled the compressor yet, so I can't find any markings on it.

Hi Ron
You should have a York compressor on your coach and since they are mostly a universal unit, the clutch will need to be matched up by removing the unit and taking it in to a parts store for comparison.
They were very popular units long ago and used on big trucks and industrial equipment.

Thanks Fred. Do you know if the clutch is held on with a snap ring? or is it a
press fit? I have looked at videos on the internet, but nothing that I have
seen relates to the York.

A/C Compressor Clutch

Ron,
This info is what I recall from long ago, I am certain this is how the clutch is attached:
A 3/8 or 7/16 bolt is in the center, holding the clutch to the compressor, remove it.
The comp. has a tapered shaft and a keyway.
To remove the clutch easily, get a 5/8x11 bolt and screw it into the large female threads in the clutch
and that is your puller.

Yes, Ron...Fred is correct. Just make sure that your replacment clutch is
compatable with the belt(s) you are using.. Some different cars use a
different diameter pulley. Some dual V belts, some a single and, of course the
serpintine belt.
As a note, I have a dedicated York mounted on my Jeep as an air pump, to "air
up" the tires after offroading... It is the 10 CubicInch compressor, and can
run my impact wrench, among other things..

Successfully pulled the compressor and clutch today. You need a special tool to
hold the clutch while loosening the bolt that holds the clutch on.

I tried a parts house for a new magnetic coil, but they couldn't x it with
anything. I went to a local a/c specialist and he had a new magnet and clutch
combination for $95.00 and found an older megnetic coil. He let me have that
one for $20.00. I installed it and voila, I have dash air again.
