New to Wanderlodge, looking for advise re 1987 40'
Hi folks! I am new here and looking for information relative to Wanderlodge in
general and in particular the 1987 40' with tag axle advertised at Poulsbo RV in
WA. Over the past year I have been looking at everything from truck campers to
class C to A gassers and finally narrowed down to a A diesel.

My issue with the current crop of RVs out there is that so many I have looked at
have damage due to water intrusion into the walls with signs of showing serious
de-lamination. The coaches have all been upper tier, no junk, but older (like
me). I like old, sturdy construction and these birds seem to be just that.

Anyway, the one I found in WA has mileage in the low 40K range. Pictures look
just great, paint and interior, at least what I can see of it. Dealer says this
one will NOT come with a systems check so that makes me wonder a bit. Tires are
all in need of replacement.

Biggest problem is that the coach is completely across the country from where I
live. Wondering if there are any agencies that will check these out long
distance, someone I could trust, before I fly 3000 miles to purchase it. Any
information relative to this model would be graciously and appreciatively
accepted. Thank You all!

The Wanderlodge is a great machine. However, I'd be very surprised if everything was in good working order. The Wanderlodge is a complex machine and hates to sit around, the longer they sit, the more likely something is not going to work when it is time to go. They are so complex that you'd be well ahead to pay someone with WL knowledge to check it out. It may be a great deal, even with a list of items to 'repair', but at least you won't be surprised. Living with an old WL is not cheap, but they are one sturdy machine and you'll have a great time if you keep your expectations in order.

Thank you, I am in the northeast and as near as I can tell, there are none in my
area for sale. Finding someone to check it out will be the problem.

I'll suggest the mileage is 140K...our 1987 shows about 20K..but the mileage started over at 100K. Ask how many engine hours. That should be a good indicator. Looks like an Ernie wood floor. Nice coach.

I have heard of this coach before. There is far more than 40K on it as I remember another guy looking at it and the engine hour meter would indicate you might add a 1 in front of the 40. This would make sense for most Wanderlodges of this era. I seem to remember it had several issues that have caused most people to keep looking.

What city is the coach located? Looks like they have four or five business locations. My 'Bird database might have someone close to where the coach is, and perhaps we can get someone to go look at it for you.

Here's a couple of links. First to the listing at Poulsbo:
http://www.poulsborv.com/pre_owned_detai...JAMQ3\
616R0&veh=2885818

and a link to a discussion on WOG (says it is at the Kent location):
http://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.com/fo...hp?t=14779

That discussion has pictures of the engine hour meter showing only 233 hours, so
it is either defective or replaced and offers no hint of the actual mileage.

It tells in the ad which city, I can go there and look again. Been overwhelmed
this month with a kitchen remodel and seminars to facilitate. Really want to
purchase a MH but sick of the leakers and composite walls.
