Check engine light - Gregory OConnor - 01-01-2007 15:47 Reduced speed limit implies a low fluid level reading and not a damage report. Is the puke sight glass clean???? put a wrench on it and take it out to see if it is truly full or just add 1/2 gallon to it. Tach may be a completly seperate issue. dont rule out that possibility. Dan gave good advice on cleaning things and looking for worn insulation or carbon marks on wires Seedsman? are you an Agronomist? There was still fluid in the lines and the cooler, as I did not flush it. I don't know if it makes a difference if it's a 4 or 5 speed. Also, you can read your own code, look next to the shift pad. When we checked it the fluid would not touch the stick so we added half a gallon to bring it up to the add cold line. The service tech said I don't care what the book says, the dip stick doesn't lie. Still I don't like it when there is an unexplained difference. I also noticed a warning the the owner's manual not to leave the transmission in drive for more than five minutes while stationary because of heat damage. I can see how that could happen in a traffic jam. Five minutes is not so long.
Check engine light - fishfarm2003 - 05-21-2009 00:40 Hi Dan. As someone who hopes to join this merry band of Wanderlodge owners someday, the maintenance things really interest me. I was able to find a "Mechanic's Tips" pamphlet for the 700 series transmissions. It on page 13 says a severely low level will cause your condition. The lowest fluid capacity it lists is 30 quarts. I had to add 2.5 gallons when I checked it hot. I don't understand why the manual says 16 quarts when the real number is 28 quarts. Anyway, thanks for your help and everyone else who replied.
