Ken, not the fresh water tank in your Coach. You have a small space heater
attached to a gray square D thermostat control

After removing a fresh water tank on an SP, we found that the freeze
protection mat had scorched the bottom of the tank and the plywood floor. It
had been so hot in the past to scorch a plastic zip tie. Anyone that has this
setup should absolutely discontinue using it. I will post a few photos in the
photo section and will title it fire hazard.

Ken,
We had those vertical electric heaters on our '84 FC.

The only reason, come to think of it, right now, is that where the fresh water tank is located in that SP, there is no room for the heaters that the rest of the coaches have. Thus, they installed the mat under the tank.
This tank had many stress cracks and the owner believes it is due to the fact that with the tank resting on the wheel well hump, there was no real support. The tank is not a square job but does have part of it raised to miss the tank. We will be putting a high density pad under that and observing how the tank rests on the wheel well.
