Neutral safty switch - Curt Sprenger - 11-06-2011 12:11

Same Key for the '87 PT38. My guess is yours is the same.

Re: [WanderlodgeForum] Neutral safty switch

On my former coach (1985 PT40) I had your same symptoms a few times caused by two different things. The switch for remote start back in the engine compartment apparently had bad contact points, it would act up occasionaly and If I flipped it from front to rear and back a few times the coach would then start. I replaced the switch after this happened a couple of times and that eliminated that problem. Another time I had the exact same symptoms, hit the key, it did not crank the engine over and the starter made no noise. That time it turned out to be a jammed (stuck starter), the starter was pulled and the drive gear on the starter was easily freed up and the starter put back on, it never got stuck again.

Neutral safty switch - Ralph - 11-06-2011 12:13

Rarely. Ahh let's try one more thing quickly. Sit in the drivers seat. On the lower up dash, find a switch labeled AT. Be sure it is switched to the left. If right then switch it and start

AT is anti-theft. Simple way to make sure the coach can't be started, but a
b**** when you don't know it got switched!

Rarely. Ahh let's try one more thing quickly. Sit in the drivers seat. On the lower up dash, find a switch labeled AT. Be sure it is switched to the left. If right then switch it and start

I try flipping the toggle switch from front to back four or five times and it didn't start. I'm trying to find the key for the back start spot. Do you think it could be the front key switch

Re: [WanderlodgeForum] Neutral safty switch

On my former coach (1985 PT40) I had your same symptoms a few times caused by two different things. The switch for remote start back in the engine compartment apparently had bad contact points, it would act upoccasionaly and If I flipped it from front to rear and back afew times the coach wouldthen start. I replaced the switch after this happened a couple of times and that eliminated that problem. Another time I had the exact same symptoms, hit the key,it did not crank the engine over and the starter made no noise. That time it turned out to be a jammed (stuck starter), the starter was pulled and the drive gear on the starter was easily freed up and the starter put back on, it never got stuck again.

Neutral safty switch - Ralph - 11-06-2011 13:15

Nope the one on the right down under by the right knee is the 12vdc master. Am not talking about that. The AT is centered on the lower upper dash, sort of hidden by the steer wheel

AT is anti-theft. Simple way to make sure the coach can't be started, but a b**** when you don't know it got switched!

Neutral safty switch - artw - 11-07-2011 08:27

I have had the same continueing problem with my PT36 (still having it).
If the batteries are not fully charged it will not start from the drivers
position. I am able to start from the rear. I leave the drivers key in the 'on'
position, start the coach from thr rear, move to toggle to'front' and turn rear
key to 'off'.

I had my son stand at the rear to listen for a solenoid click. He heard nothing
when I turned the the in front.

I have been trouble-shooting the problem for two years. I'm thinking that I have
a corroded pin in one of the cannon plugs. Thought I found it once but oh no,
the symtom reappearred.

Always starts fine when Batts. are fully charged.
