After a few hours of waiting for the boarder guards to find DOT plates we were on our way . It would not have taken so long but they refused to allow us to assist , going so far as pulling there gun on me when I walked toward the coach without a escort lol. as to being able to register the bus in the U.S. with only a registration and bill of sale , we had no issues at all. Did you find the dream Bus ? RE: Importing a bus from Canada - davidbrady - 02-01-2014 13:53 Thanks Al, I appreciate your help. It's registered as a 2004, 2003 chassis, so it is a "U.S. Certified" vehicle, plus I have a letter from Prevost saying so. From what I can tell two forms need to be filled out, an EPA importation declaration form (3520-1) and an NHTSA Declaration form (HS-7), then I'll need a 'Bill of Sale' and the 'Canadian Registration'. The bus has manufacturer-equipped EPA labels on the engine, in english, certifying it to be a U.S. Version, and on the chassis it has manufacturer-equipped labels certifying FMVSS compliance. I believe I'm actually re-importing a U.S. Certified vehicle, which should simplify form HS-7. (Imported to the states, converted into a motorhome by a U.S. converter, sold and registered in the states, then in 2007 imported and registered in Canada). Seems simple enough! David, that is everything you need, you should have no issues RE: Importing a bus from Canada - ernie ekberg - 02-02-2014 10:27 I put some wood floors in an 06 Marathon last summer. The entry door must have weighed 1000 pounds. It had those 365 tires, also. Nice coach RE: Importing a bus from Canada - davidbrady - 02-03-2014 01:07 Thanks Jim, I appreciate it. Ernie, they are stout. The one I'm considering also has the 365 steer and tag axle tires. I'll fly on Tuesday to see it in person and to take pics. Stay tuned! Pics to come. RE: Importing a bus from Canada - davidbrady - 02-03-2014 14:04 Hi Hish, We don't have any immediate travel plans so I'll probably drive it home at some later date. The current owner is agreeable with storing it in his 5000 sq ft building, heated of course.
