Inverter main fuse - Arcticdude - 11-07-2014 01:24

I recently popped an inverter fuse. Turns out mine are a Shawmut Ampsurge A13X250 250a fuse. This crosses to a Bussmann 4XC83 from Grainger. $68 plus tax each. I haven't yet mounted the new one, but it appears to be very close in all dimensions and should be an easy replacement.

John,

What loads are you running that require over 3000W of power?

[attachment=1462][attachment=1461]If you are replacing a fuse, and even if you are not, add the proper fuse holder. BB used a piece of rubber and a metal clamp that is a dead short to the battery if it comes just a little loose. Pix attached.

Again, while you are at it, install a rubber cover over the back of thee hot jump terminal. It is inviting a massive spark if you happen to ground it with a wrench.

Duh!! The margarita machine!! What else!! Big Grin Seriously, the chargers come back through these fuses on mine.

Good points, Ron. I'll have to study mine a little to see how to do that properly.
