Wire tracing - ttikalsky - 07-28-2005 16:26 Can anyone recommend a decent "Tone & Probe" for tracing wires? I tried the Home Depot unit and promptly returned the junk. Troy, 8FC33 Wire tracing - Tom Warner - 07-28-2005 16:38 If you have the complete set of drawings for your coach, they are color coded and very easy to trace once you learn the system. Most multimeters have a resistance function with a tone to check diodes and you can use that to trace wires if you want an easier method. Connect one probe to the wire you are interested in and the other end of the meter to ground. Then you can sequentially touch each wire in another location to ground and when it tones you have found the wire. This assumes of course you have all power turned off. I've tried several different units and find the signal is very weak or nonexistent in larger wiring. I'll be interested in the responses to your note. Fullenwider - 07-28-2005 17:11 I have used this unit and it worked very well in tracing hidden circuits. http://www.lashen.com/vendors/triplett/fox_hound.asp#3245-k Am not advocating the vendor, but the triplett unit.
