Roof Air Conditioner Conversion Kit? - Jack and Liz Pearce - 08-02-2005 22:06 Howdy, Y'all. The local RV repair guy quoted us approximately $900 for a new Dometic roof AC. Included was cost for a conversion kit. Anyone know what this "conversion kit" is? Regards, Liz Regards, Jack and Liz Pearce Fulltiming in a 1993 Wanderlodge WB40 Homesick Texans in SE. FL Roof Air Conditioner Conversion Kit? - John Stiles - 08-02-2005 22:17 Jack and Liz, I'm biting my tounge here but conversion kit my ...... Join Camping World Presidents club, get one of their "additional 10% off" coupons and order a new Dometic in the $600+ range. A couple of years ago I put two new Dometic Penguins on my 'bird by playing the Camping World coupon game and I feel like I came out way ahead. I think the big difference with yours is that the inside portion is different since yours is ducted. It sounds like the outside portion is all you are needing so I don't see where the $900 figure comes from let alone a "conversion" kit. If I'm wrong about this someone else pipe up...... FL Roof Air Conditioner Conversion Kit? - Ralph L. Fullenwider - 08-03-2005 00:35 Jack and Liz: I agree with John completely. The roof AC units do come in 2 pieces, the AC unit and the air distribution box. They are separate pieces and usually the old air distribution box will not fit the new AC unit because of changes in design or what ever. They also must be compatible if your Rig is set up with the master/slave type of thermostat controls. Go to Camping World and save yourself 2 or 3 hundred dollars. Installation should not run over 135.00 as a norm, over the marked up price of a new unit. FL > Roof Air Conditioner Conversion Kit? - BLewis1035@... - 08-03-2005 02:15 Converting your money to his dishonest pocket. I have installed several of these airs and it can easily be done in less than an hour. The a/c units come complete and require no conversion kit. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Roof Air Conditioner Conversion Kit? - gewans2 - 08-03-2005 07:49 I recently replaced the roof airs on my PT40 WB and learned the following. I replaced my Dometics with Dometics but had to change the thermastat wire form an 8 pin type to a 4 pins type. The conduet from the air unit to the thermostat (in my coach) was ribbed plastic and very hard to pull the new wire thru, in fact on one unit I had to reroute the wire completely. The thermostat has to be replaced to the new 4 pin type as well. The air units innerchanged on the roof openings and wireing easily with minor changes. I paid about $600.00 each including thermostats. Gene Shutt 1988 PT-40-WB --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Ralph L. Fullenwider" > Jack and Liz: > > I agree with John completely.
