Ralphs is too- no we are not twins. Anyone done a removal ? I read in the manual for perkins that says you have to time that thing when you put her back. that leaves me out of that picture, for sure. Ernie- > 83PT40 in Texas > injector pump - Curt Sprenger - 12-19-2006 11:31 Ernie, Call a diesel specialty shop, one that rebuilds diesel fuel pumps/injectors. Ask them if they will remove, service, reinstall/time the pump. Might be a good time to tune up the injectors too. That's what I did. The guy had me park the bus behind his shop. He removed the pump and injectors. I drove the bus home. A few days later he called and I took the bus back. He rebuilt the pump and the injectors, and reinstalled/timed the unit. Part of the timing is getting the RPMs set, and that is done by watching the gen-set AC voltage gauge until the set is putting out 120V. If you do this be sure the fuel lines get sealed up or diesel fuel will get all over. I paid $800.00, which included servicing the Racor, new spin on fuel filter, injector seals/o-rings, etc. Not cheap, but was less than taking the bus to a shop that would keep the bus while working on the Yanmar. Good luck. Curt Sprenger 1987 PT38 8V92 "MacAttack Racing" Anaheim Hills, Calif. While it's devoted to boats, the engine's the same so you may find an answer to your question there. http://boatdiesel.com/Forums/index.cfm?cfapp=2&Forum_ID=66 Kerry 82 FC 35 Denver |
