Replacing Power Steering Hoses to Steering Box - Andy Coleman - 06-06-2006 17:27

Fellow Wanderlodgers,

I'm working to replace all my power steering lines.

I've got nearly everything off, except, I have not yet found a good
way to remove the lines from the steering box itself.

On my 83 FC-35, the steering box is so stuffed between the battery box
and frame rail, I can't even see it, nevermind reach it.

I went through previous posts and found one that recommended removing
the drivers seat, rolling back the carpet, and exposing an access
plate on the floor. I tried that - turns out my model does not have a
plate above the steering box.

Anybody have any experience in this?? There must be an easier way
that I'm missing... Bluebird usually has a way that everything can be
removed..

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Andy

Andy,

On our 88 FC, I was able to remove the batteries, Lay on the ground
and use a crows foot on a long extention, Needed a helper with the
wrench to place it on the nut with each 1/4 turn. You may need to
rearrange some wireing harnesses.
