Leaking fresh water tank - dspithaler@... - 04-18-2007 08:09

Art I had a leak in my water filter under the bed last year. When I
winterized I blew out the lines then put pink stuff in from the pump. It didn't
get to the water filter. It had a real fine leak under pressure. It was hard to
see.

Art, just curious but do you have a hot water tank under your bed?

Being as how the fresh water tank was empty, I thought I'd sanitize
it using the method described in the Bluebird manual. On entering the
coach the next morning I found the carpet on the right side of the bed
wet.Am I in big trouble? I've removed the mattress and the plywood
covering. It doesn't look like any of the plumbing is leaking. The next
step is to try and lift the tank out (it has been drained).Has anyone
done this? I'm wondering how much of the bed frame has to be taken
apart. Can these tanks be patched?

The hot water tank is not under the part I've uncovered (the rear 2 feet of the
bed still has its plywood cover.

Art,
When you filled the water tank, did you fill it to the full reading on
the water tank gauge and stop filling there, or did you fill it to
running out of the overflow?

The water heater is most likely under the area you have not removed the
plywood.

If you filled it full, the overflow tube may leak at the connection to
the top of the tank.
