Wellnut Fastners - rvdependent - 09-16-2007 02:24

Discovered that a branch pulled the front of my main awning loose, upon
inspection I found a device or what was left of it called a Wellnut.
Apparently the Stainless steel machine screw goes through the awning
flange and is threaded into this fastener and somehow when it is
thightened holds the awning flange in place. is this the best fastener
for this application? the regular window awnings are all fastened with
stainless screws but this main awning seems to use these Wellnuts for
the entire length of awning flange. Would appreciate suggestions.

Donald,
Wellnuts are the most secure way to attach the awning. You drill a hole place
the wellnut insert into the hole then when you screw in the bolt it expands the
insert
making for a very secure fit.

Donald,
Check your Yellow Pages for Fasteners - Industrial & Construction. listings up
here are chains, Fastenal Company and Ricco Fasteners Inc.. This would give you
a chance to compare and ask questions about installation. Good luck.
