Fire Hazard - Ernie E - 06-25-2010 01:59 After removing a fresh water tank on an SP, we found that the freeze protection mat had scorched the bottom of the tank and the plywood floor. It had been so hot in the past to scorch a plastic zip tie. Anyone that has this setup should absolutely discontinue using it. I will post a few photos in the photo section and will title it fire hazard. Ernie-83PT40 in Texas Fire Hazard - Fred Hulse - 06-25-2010 02:08 Ernie
That tank is in the bathroom closet, right?
They are a plastic tank and most owners have had to replace or repair that tank.
The 91 SP 36 I owned had been replaced with a stainless steel tank.
I can now see one reason why so many of those tanks required repair or replacement.

Fire Hazard - Fred Hulse - 06-25-2010 02:40 Probably one helpful solution if the tanks are still holding water,is to find the power source for that heat pad and remove it and any trace of it!!
