new wanderlodge owner needs help starting furnaces - rlrueter - 12-09-2010 03:19

Hi.
I got a 1982 fc35 last month and we are checking systems out.
Can someone walk me through starting the furnaces and cooktop?
It had an empty propane tank that I just filled.
102.00 for 3/4 of a tank. Ouch. Cant wait to fill the 265 gal diesel tank. HaHa.

Hey,
Look under the dinette seat in the aisle there is a switch that has to be on for
any of the propane to operate. Had the same problem when we got our bird last
year. Hope this fixes the problem.

.... and the diesel is the CHEEP part of owning one of these beasts! I opened up
my propane tank and replaced some gaskets this past summer. Once I closed up and
refilled the LP tank, all I had to do was turn on the leak detector thingy so
that the gas would come on and then I just stood at the stove with a lit match
against one burner and waited for the air to purge out of the lines. Once all 4
burners and the pilot were lit, I proceeded to turn on the reefer (the one you
keep drinks in) and then let the furnaces cycle a few times. Some of them will
try to re-ignite if they don't succeed the first time, but mine don't. See if
they come on within 30 seconds of the blower turning on and if not, turn them
off and try again. After doing this 2 or 3 times, they should all ignite with no
problems.

...unless the furnaces need to be removed to take dirt dobber nests and remove the rust from the burner slots. Mine were built up with rust anddebris so badly I had to dismantle the furnaces and clean all before they would ignite. Hope you have much better luck! Taking a furnace out can be a bear.
