Toad wiring
Bill,
I forgot to mention: The SMI only monitors the toad brake signal at the
switch on the pedal and uses this to activate the transmitter to signal the
receiver in the coach that the brakes are applied. As long as the coach
brake voltage is not fed back into the line, the SMI signaling will not be
effected. The SMI does need to see the coach brake voltage on a specific
pair of wires to work, but that can be tapped off the coach signal prior to
the relays I mentioned in the previous post.

Gardner, Curt,

We have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee.
Found the Cherokee tail light/stop light wires and
spliced in two DPDT switches, This method uses the existing Jeep
lights and sockets. Switches are UP for Bird towing, DOWN for Jeep
Driving. The Jeep tail lights are used for turn signals, hazards,
and stop lights. No need for diodes, But I must remember to throw
the manual switches. Easy to install.
I do not know if this works with the SMI.
