Bad wiring from factory?

Hello all,

I have spent the morning chasing wires in my FC in an effort to
figure out why the chassis heat won't work. I am using as a guide
the engineering plans that are in my blue box.

So far, I have found numerous wires in both the front and rear right-
side load centers that are not attached to the proper pins & sockets
as outlined in the plans. All of these wires are associated with the
chassis heat. I have not chnged things around yet to match the plans.

But this leads to my question: these load centers look to me like
they have never been touched. Everything is very neat and clean,
wires still bundled together tightly, all the number tags still
there, no splicing anywhere, etc. It looks like factory-quality
workmanship, not like anything any repair person I have ever had
experience with would leave. So the question is: do you think it is
possible it was wired incorrectly at the factory? Anyone ever come
across a similar situation? My coach spent it's whole life in Texas
before me...maybe 20 years of owners before me never tried to use the
chassis heat.

Our previous BB was a '81FC31. It would never pre-heat the generator from
either of the switches. I discovered that the wires had never been installed.
I asked Bennie at BB service about this and he said that could "never happen",
that they must have been "moved by someone". I spent a lot of time looking,
because of what he had told me, and they just were not ever installed. So, it
can and does happen.

Hi Scott,

Coming up on a twenty year span, three Birds have
been wired different from what their schematic showed;
all in more than one area. Additionally, one had an
isolator diode soldered backwards which contributed to
the house battery bank constantly becoming discharged,
in spite of repeated warranty work-orders and battery
replacements. Therefore, I'm not the person to ask if
what you experienced could be created during
manufacturing.

Hmm, an '82 possibly wired wrong?

Hard to say whether it has been changed in the past 24years, might
be, might not be. Most of the coaches from that era I've been through
have many surprises added by miscellaneous owners and RV shops over
the past 1/4 century.

That not being the case, lets just say that '82 was a year with a lot
of training, the largest production year at Wanderlodge from what
I've been told, also the year that the PT was introduced and the FC
was changed significantly, ... a lot of things slipped through the
cracks in '82 from my experience. Having something mis-wired would
not be normal, but not a shock to me either (no pun intended).
