Generator Problem
I also meant to ask on the out side of the control box, are there 2 or 3
white molex plugs? and if you would, give me the specification number of your unit. > Safe travels, Ralph and Charolette Fullenwider "84FC35 "Ruff Diamond" Duncan, Oklahoma |

Generator Problem
So I checked and there is 12.9 volts between the small terminal and the large
terminal all the time weather the start switch is depressed or not. if i go between the small terminal and the second large terminal there is no voltage. There are three bosch little boxes in the controll box. some of the time when the start switch is depressed, one of them makes a clicking sound. I went to napa and bought another one of these, it makes the same clicking when start is depressed. Robert --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Ralph L. Generator Problem
Need to check between a ground point and the small terminal, then switch
the start switch and see if you read 12 vdc. From ground to the small terminal there should be no voltage until you hit the start switch. The start switch supplies power to the small terminal (coil) of the starter solenoid and pulls it in to pass full volts DC to the starter. Generator Problem
One of the relays in the control box should be clicking when you press the
start switch, that is normal. And the relay that is clicking should be the C relay coil. I checked that and there was nothing for voltage. at the small terminal and
ground. Just an occasional clicking sound that is coming from one of those small plastic bosch boxes inside the control box. Robert --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Ralph L. Generator Problem
Excellent! The relay is clicking, meaning it is being told to pull in and
pass 12 vdc to the start solenoid but it is not getting there. Now then, I believe there are external plugs on the control box, 2 maybe 3 of them? Un plug the connectors, clean them and try a start. These same connectors send the 12 vdc to the slip rings on the rotor supplying the "flash" voltage to start the EMF building as the rotor turns inside of the stator (field) and that supplies voltage to the regulator and eventually builds to 110vac to pull in the 110vac relay in the control box, keeping the gen set running and giving you leg 1 and leg 2 AC voltage to the Coach. I believe that you have some corroded or dirty connectors. Ralph At 03:37 AM 7/11/2010 +0000, you wrote: >I checked that and there was nothing for voltage. at the small terminal >and ground. Okay I will check these connectors. Thanks for your help. Robert

Generator Problem
Ralph, you were right it was that big black conector behind the control box. I
unscrwed it and found one wire corroded away to a green paste. I bypassed that wire before the connector and the gen starts and makes power. Thank you for your wise counsel sir. Generator Problem
Good find, glad it is running and the Family can keep cool. Some control
boxes have the white molex plugs and some are like yours and have the plastic cannon plugs. Have a great summer full of camping travels.
