Chris,
It is my understanding that it is not the same thing at all. In fact I'm sure it is not. It is to control odors by passing a 12 volts charge through one of two pairs of stainless steel electrodes within the holding tank. It oxidizes the organics thus eliminating odors. When turned on it cycles on and off by itself. Our bird has the same thing. But, I don't know if it works. I don't know how you would tell. I usually don't have odors in the coach and don't use that feature. Hi Chris,
The Waste Odor Control on your coach is nothing like the "Incinolet". Your system (I had that on my '90) sends a minute electric current through the waste tank to supposedly neutralize odors. It does not eliminate waste. I believe that your owners manual states that the Waste Odor Control works better if you add a little table salt to the waste tank to make the contents more conductive. The Incinolet actually burns the waste in a gas fired incinerator. Another type of waste disposal (I can't remember the name) actually macerated the waste and pumped it into the hot exhaust of the vehicle. I haven't seen one of those in years but the Incinolet is still used in camps, cabins, etc. where there is no septic system. IMO, it is several steps better than the old outhouse, specially in winter! Rich D. It was lateral G's attempting to close the door, or,
"how fast can I take this off ramp", or, proof that Blue Birds don't slide on dry pavement. I had one of these in a mid 70s Sportscoach. They were real proud of
it, as I recall that it was around a $2,500 option back then. Worked ok I guess but did leave you thinking about what was happening all the time it was running. Odor was always an issue too. You definitely only wanted to turn it on while "underway". Pity the poor folks behind you. I have a Waste Odor Switch also but have never used it. Truthfully, I've never
had a backflow odor problem since owning the bus(2+ years). I do not use odor control additives or salt. My monitors work perfectly. I think I have figured it out. The wife uses the washer so often that the black tank is as clean inside as the outside of the bus. I know this sounds like BS , but it's not a joke. If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
