Correction on my post. I should have said cut out instead of cut in point when
road surface temps are hot. Cut in is at the high temperature, cut out (turns
the fan off) is at the lower temperature of the Alarmstat range.

owners...what temp does your engine run when cruising?

Mine hovers around 190. When it creeps a bit past the 190 line on the
gauge, I assume the fan kicks in, and it cools to just below 190 on the
gauge. Then it heats back up and the process is repeated.

Is this similar to other owners' experiences?

Curt: Do you know what temperature thermostats you are running in
your coach? Also what temperature is your alarmstat set to cycle the fan?

I am about to have my cooling system cleaned and back-flushed. After
that I will put in new alarmstat and thermostats.

Ron,
I'm running new 180 degree thermostats. Didn't touch the alarmastat.

Thanks Curt. Did you get your thermostats from Detroit? Those
puppies are expensive if you did. Anybody else furnish them that you
know of?

Ron,
All purchased from Detroit, thermostats $44.28 each, seals $14.20 each,
gaskets $1.55 each. I'm not aware of anybody else that carries them. I think
a big truck store would have them or can get them.

Curt: Do you have a part number? For my S/N engine, they said I
needed #8924847 at a price of $117.57 per each.

Ron,

Part numbers...thermostats #23503825 (old part #5102651), seals #5132155 (
no old part number), gaskets #5117786 (old part #6117438).
