Water Pumps & UV water treatment

Well it looks like I'm going to end up with a total water pump bay
rebuild.

I have the new pumps and filter screens ,the reinforced vinyl tubing,
(210PSI), stainless hose clamps and the SeaTeck fittings. I thought I
was going top get away with the old Accumulator tank, but it's shot.
When you depress the Schrader valve it blow water, so the bladder is
leaking. The original Jabsco tank is a little price. I found a
Groco PST-1 for about ½ price and if I'm not mistaken Jabsco gets
their tanks from Groco. Dimensions are the same as Jabso

Had I known I would end up re-doing everything I would have gone with
a combination pump/accumulator tank set up. Mount it, plug in the
power, hook up the water and your done.

The system already has a water filter inside the Tank Bay, one of
those Life Time filters, I don't know about that, it seems as though
other than taking it out and runniung water through it backwards
there is no other way to clean it. Seems like sooner or later it will
reach it's operational capacity, etc. etc.

I have a problem with water! You never really know if it is safe to
drink. If you top off the tanks at last nights campground where did
they get it from? The municipal plant, the well, ground water????
Who knows. I don't mind water tasting different from place to place.
That's part of the travel experience. What I have a problem with is
germs & bacteria that can make you sick or worse!

I like this system over other alternatives like Ozone, mostly because
I'm Thrifty, read in here CHEEP! It has a UV bulb and a power supply,
the water flows through it to or from the pumps. SIMPLE. You can get
them in 120V, 220-240V, and 12V models. It has a capacity large
enough to disinfect any water flow rate you would see in a Bird, I
almost never run off of shore water, I'll fill my tanks and run off
the 12V pump system., even when parked for a long stay. It's just the
way I've done it for years. I've seen water regulators fail, and
parks that have extreme water pressures.

The above model is 14 gallons per min. Which should be more than
sufficient for 2 pumps that deliver 3.5 GPM each. I'm not sure but 2
pumps running together at a rate of 3.5 GPM @ 45 PSI will not deliver
7 GPM @ 90PSI, I think it somewhat less. Maybe one of you engineers
could figure that out for us. Regardless this UV system can handle
it.

Ozone while it is more effective, it will sanitize the water and
whatever is containing it. Has some disadvantages, uses more power,
is more complex in it's construction and IT COSTS MORE, There is
some debate about it being harmful in large doses. I've used
Ozonators to kill mold and to get smells out of rooms and even in the
coach to freshen up the air and upholstery, carpets, it works well, I
just don't think I want to drink it. Here again some people swear
it's beneficial. I not looking for the fountain of youth, just safe
water.

There are several ways that you could install this system. In the
initial filling of the storage tanks, or in the system just before it
hits the interior plumbing. I'll most likely place it just past the
accumulator in the pump bay, There is enough space to mount the unit,
easy to service and there is an electric outlet already in place.
