What is this little beeping thing?
It is most likely the on/off electric valve that shuts off the LP supply to
your LP appliances. Kevin McKeown YL CA 86 38 PT [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

What is this little beeping thing?
Mounted below the refrigerator near the floor in my FC kitchen is some
sort of detector/alarm device. It has a small red LED light that is always on, and a 'test' button that emits a high-pitched alarm when pushed. What is this an alarm for? Every once in a while, it will beep once. Usually the beep seems to happen when I am operating on battery power and the water pump is activated. It doesn't do it every time. I wondered if it might be some sort of low battery voltage alarm, but it will sometimes let out the beep even when the batteries are fully charged. It has never gone off any other way. What is this little beeping thing?
Hi Scott,
Could it be your LP Gas alarm/monitor? Depending upon your model and various LP accessories, often there is an electrical shut off outside near the diesel fill and LP fill, to permit all gas appliances to be shut off during LP filling and diesel filling. That shut off could be called "the Master shut off." Also, there is normally another internal monitor/shut off and reset, which beeps and shuts down all LP flow should a leak in LP be detected at floor level within the coach. Remember, LP is heavier than air so testing/monitoring is completed at low points. Sometimes the LP detector will alarm from odors besides LP. Have any dogs??? Propane sniffer/shutoff. It is supposed to activate that big in-line valve
behind the refer when there is a leak detected. Scott, that is a propane detector, the little switch beside it pushes
in and the led "should" glow green. This is also a shut-off for the propane, should it detect propane. So push the switch in and it should glow green and the refer will work on propane. If you try this and it continues to glow red and beep shut the main propane off at the tank and further investigate...as a old "hero" once said ..."be vewey. vewey careful. Scott, I think you will find that the short beeps are probably caused by low
battery voltage to the sensor.
