PT cruise control

[Scott Forman]

I have made a deal to purchase a PT38, so if everything goes well, I
will have many questions as I move my learning curve from FC to PT.

First question: seller says cruise control is not operational, he does
not know why. Are there any common cruise problems that I should try
to troubleshoot once I get the coach?

Check the Bosh relay that is located just under the Bendix control box.
This is located behind the grill on the curb side. The connectors there
will have a tendency to corrode and I have had that relay go bad in the
past. Also check the related wiring in the same area.

Ralph..."behind the grill on the curb side"...do you mean behind the
curb-side front exterior swing-out panel, the area in front of the co-
pilot seat? If so, I looked in there, did not see anything
electronic in there except the brain for The Horn. Help????

Scott:

We are talking about the PT right? Then on the curb side rear, there is a
grill that lifts up for access to the side of the engine, batteries and so
forth. Open that grill and on a plate above the batteries there will be the
bendix control, a couple of valves, a cylinder with a cable housing.

It also may be behind a steel cover toward the fire wall but in the same
compartment. There should be a bosh relay in that same group of items.

Gotcha...you can see my front-engine mentality, someone says "grill"
and I instinctively think of the front of the coach.

Scott- in the rear of the coach by the racor, is where my cruise control is
located. I had an air leak in one of the valves that was leaking. i took
that apart and cleaned it. After 4 years, she works great.

OK...I replaces the relay and checked all the wiring, which all looks
fine, and still no dice. Any other suggestions?
