PowerTech generator problem
A couple of suggestions:
* verify the fuel solenoid is opening - when you preheat (or start) the engine the solenoid opens, and stays open for matter of seconds after you disengage the start or preheat button - you'll hear clicking - it then will return to the closed position - this solenoid is a booted device on the curb side front of the engine. * possible air in fuel line. have someone crank the engine while you open the T handle valve that is inline with the fuel lines (this is located above the solenoid mentioned in the first bullet. Opening this valve allows excess fuel to return to the pump, purging air that may be in the lines. Some people advise this valve should be left open a small amount. Generally, if it cranks and gets fuel, it should start. If it just cranks but won't start, and you're fairly sure your getting fuel, check for a bad electrical connection, a prime area is the gang plug with multiple wires on the curb side of the engine. Move/shake the plug to see if that helps. You can also feel (careful) the glow plugs to see if they are warm. PowerTech generator problem
Does anyone have a suggestion on where to start looking for the reason
my 15KW PowerTech won't start? I used it last during a trip to Florida in January and it worked great. I tried to start it last week and it fired and ran for just a bit before dying, maybe ran for a few seconds. It turns over good but will not start. Thanks, Alvie Miller 1993 WLWB |

PowerTech generator problem
There are several things that will cause the problem. Some have been suggested.
Based on the year of the coach, the engine is probably a Kubota. This is how I would approach the problem. Check to see if the fuel solenoid is operating. It should click and the booted arm should move back and forth. If it will not start. Crack the pressure line on the fuel pump and see if fuel is being pumped to the injector pump. There should be a pretty good stream. If not, the fuel filter could be stopped up or the fuel pump is bad or there is no power to the pump. I had a bad fuel pump that caused very hard starting but would let it run. If all is well and it won't start their could be air in the system. Before you start bleeding lines: Disconnect the wire to the over temperature sensor and see if it starts. If it starts the sensor is bad or the wire to it is grounded somewhere. It probably has a low oil pressure switch. Disconnect that wire. If it starts the switch is bad or the oil pressure in the engine is low(unlikely). Check the oil. All from memory when I reworked my unit. The odds are slim. One of the start stop switches is in the stop position. Since they are spring loaded to run it's remote, but possible. Check the one in the genset bay, it is exposed to the elements. If it will not start I'll have to go get my book from the coach.
