Troubleshooting icemaker

My icemaker is getting cold and there's water in the line to the unit but no
water is flowing in
to the icemaker. Any troublshooting hints. I'm guessing it's the valve that
controls the flow
of the water. Anything else I should be looking at?

Kerry,
You say "getting cold"...let it run a while longer, to freezing, and
maybe the water valve will open.

Is the water pump on? More than once I have made this mistake.

Water pump is on. It hadn't occurred to me that the unit would only let water
in once a
freezing temperature was reached. I'll leave it on for a while. I took the
water valve apart
and it seems functional.

Kerry, the water inlet valve is controlled by a timer/solenoid. If you
don't have ice in a while (you can hear it hit the container) check to
make sure you have power to the solenoid. Mine sometimes has to set for
a while before it starts up again. Has to do with the eject step I
believe so that it completes a full cycle.

I am sure you looked, but I will ask anyway. Are you sure the pump
is on and has not turned itself off?

Well I don't know if it was because I disassembled and reassembled the solenoid
valve or
because I let it run longer, but now it seems to be working.
