Problems with air dumping
Just an update here in Yakima, Washington.
I have had problems dumping the tag and main suspension dump valves. Others on this site have had this problem and nobody has a solution yet. Emailed Ralph and he had me look behind the front frame rail straight up. There is a manifold there with lines going to the various air bags and, I'm assuming, the suspension dump buzzer switch. My problem is, no air is getting up to the switches to tell the bags to dump. At present I am here in Yakima at a place (5th Wheel Truck) that has worked on other birds. They tried to get an air schmatic faxed from Bluebird to give them some direction...people don't get back to them. Pat here is very knowledgeable on this stuff and I hope the problem gets resolved quickly as we have to get back to Lakewood for the wife's last week of working for the state before we take off fulltiming next week. First want to thank Steve and Ralph who send me files of the various
air systems....thanks again, guys..will print them off for others we meet on our travels that might have similar problems. I found the solution to my problem. Turns out the air switches are/were the problem. Pulled them out and found that these valves have many mini o rings. Seems they fall apart with age and the small pieces jam the air holes. Replaced them with new and bigger air switches...problem solved. Bus now dumps quicker and fills quicker as went to 1/4 in size openings. Thanks again to Steve and Ralph. I know several have mentioned they have this occasional problem and I think this is the reason. Can you provide the part number of the valve(s) you used to replace the orginal equipment? I also have a randomly sticking dump valve. Glenn,
Check with Stephen Birtles he now produces the Dupree line of dump valves. Stephen said he would have a booth at the RIV and RATS rallies and would have parts for repairs. I found that using mine regularly has helped with it sticking. Sorry, on the bill, no part no. was put, but if you call Pat at 5th Wheel Truck Repair 509-248-3070 I'm sure he can tell you. He just said this was a regular air dump switch used on all current trucks. I must be out of sync. I thought Bob was talking about the suspension dump valves. I recently replaced by Holding Tanks Dump valves with new ones from Steve and they work great. I think you could be right. When I read dump valves I automaticly thought of holding tanks. Don't suppose Stephen has air dump valves also? I believe Stephen has all the parts for the dump valves both air and manual.

Rob, Dupree dump valves are good for crap'.
they are talking about dump valves for air bags and I believe it is a sticking 'regulator isolation valve' that limits auxillary air use during low system pressure that is the problem.
