Hi Chuck:
Tomorrow I will take a photo of the spring location and send it. 2. Are you going to be at the X-Mas Rally? if so I will bring you a boot for it. 3. The micro switch was an add on for some reason and not needed. 12.5 Kohlar question(s)
Chuck,
Did youreplace the soundproofing insulation over the generator? If so, which did you decide to use? Mine needs to be replaced soon!
I know what you mean about the generator being cramed in a small spot. I replaced my 6.5 KW Onan with a 10KW diesel and had to do some "re-arranging"!

I would appreciate the picture! Usually I can figure things out, but there is no logical place for the spring I can see. I have the generator out and am trying to get every thing done by next Saturday. Thatââ¬â¢s when I have to return the pallet jack that I used to remove it and that it is currently sitting on. I would gladly pay you for it plus the shipping costs. I am not sure why they put a 12.5kw in a FC31. It is on a smaller tray than normal and is very cramped to try and work on when installed. Thatââ¬â¢s why I decided to take it out and do everything right.
One question I forgot. My high temperature cutoff sensor did not pass the test. I discovered that there are two resistance sensors installed like would be used for a temperature gauge. The cutoff should be a switch. I am guessing it would be set for 200-210 degrees. Do you have any information about the cutoff sensor?
My guess is that we will probably be out of town during the X-Mas Rally. During the holiday season Kathyââ¬â¢s Real Estate work slows down and we usually are travelling to visit family for the Holidays.

12.5 Kohlar question(s)
Hi Mike,
You're right - I put the 10 KW in my '78 FC. That was the best mod I've ever made in a motorhome. I filled up the gen compartment with the engine and gen housing, then mounted the radiator and electric fan inboard (with a 180 degree thermostat) facing the drive shaft with aft facing louvers so it would have negative pressure underneath (underway) and draw the air through the outer gen door and underneath the coach.
Worked like a champ and probably is still running for the guy who bought it and took off for Cost Rica! I am going thru my '91 now doing alot of maintenance I have put off for a while. Air compressor, air governor, air bags, Primus are all on the list. The air governor is mounted remotely inside the right frame rail next to the wide transmission so a guy with more than a 6" chest cannot possibly reach it....time to hire a skinny kid!! Most of the other stuff a "portly old Blister" can do!!
Take care, Mike!
