1979 FC35/ Fuel Guage Problem
My fuel guage just quit working! When I turn the key on the guage pegs
quickly full counter clockwise below empty. Does this indicate a short? Anyone else have a similar problem? Could it be the probe? Any info on troubleshooting this syatem would be helpful! Thanks! |

1979 FC35/ Fuel Guage Problem
It is sounds like the sending unit. Under the rear bed on the floor about center
of the coach you will find a round metal plate about six inches with screws around outside. Remove the plate and the sending unit in just below. Remove the wire from top of unit and the guage should go to empty, now ground the wire and the guage should go to full. I f this happens the guage is ok and the sending unit is bad. This is a universal unit and is avaible from NAPA. The only thing to pay attention to is the new unit float length has to be set to the same as old befor installing. 1979 FC35/ Fuel Guage Problem
Before you go to all of the trouble of pulling up the carpet and then
uncapping the plate for the fuel sender etc, check the ground coming out of the plug for the dash. Its very possible that is where the problem is and not the float itself. tom Warner 1982 FC35 Vernon center,NY At 05:37 PM 2/10/2006, you wrote: >Byrne, thanks so much for the info! 1979 FC35/ Fuel Guage Problem
Thanks guys! I went down to NAPA, purchased the $35.00 universal sending unit
with guage. Installed them in about one hour and everything works great now! Thanks again! Tom Warner pulling up the carpet and then uncapping the plate for the fuel sender etc, check the ground coming out of the plug for the dash.
