Power steering saga continues
Sometimes I wonder if instances like this are an omen. The got the Pittman
arm off eventually, had to heat it with a torch, because after breaking three puller, that was the only foreseeable alternative, and it did come right off. Put the replacement seal back in, put everything back together and power steering fluid just poured right past the shaft when I put it in the reservoir. Not a good sight. So this morning they are going to take everything back out and see why it is leaking. If any of you have any brilliant suggestions, please don't hesitate to call me at 843-475-6304. These guys have collectively replaced hundreds of seals (arf arf) in power steering pumps. Of course I am at a complete baffled loss. One thing noted, in the seal kit I have, it shows more seals going in (in the diagram) than what he took out. Not wanting to spend another night in the garage. Tom Meservey, USN (Ret) '81FC33' E. T.
