IS THIS CONNECTION AFTER THE TURBO?
When you said that you noticed more and more black smoke, that would indicate that the turbo was not forcing a good volume of air into the engine, therefore the extremely rich mixture(black smoke). Black smoke is indicative of the exhaust pipe leaking before the turbo, causing reduced turbo boost, which causes reduced engine air, which results in too rich a fuel/air mixture, which shows itself as black smoke.
