Spring vs: air suspension
I owned a 78 FC33 with leaf springs and now own an 84 FC35 with air
ride. The ride is better in the 84, but the handling in the 78 was more precise and the ride wasn't objectional at all. The difference to me with the 84 compared to the 78 is the combination of ALL the upgrades: air ride, turbo, retarder, larger diesel generator and higher gearing which lowers engine speed and noise.
