1984pt40 Front heater core leak

I haven't posted here in a while, I guess things have been going too
smoothly (knock on wood)

However now I have a bit of a problem - my front heater core is
leaking and I have opened up the beast and it looks like a major job
to pull the heater core (3 fans? ductwork and 22 year old bolts.

Is there any chance that some sort of radiator sealent could be put in
the system and it would work? I have never used the stuff and have no
idea if it is a good idea or not, especially in a wet sleeve diesel.

Any thoughts??
