Followup on camloc fastener (was Re: Weather Striping)
Well, the number 6 camlocs arrived from Aircraft Spruce and ....
they're too short. I was able to re-measure (using the distance from the pin to the end added to my broken stud) to get an overall length of 1.0625 (approx) inches. At the Milspec <http://www.milspecproducts.com/index.html> web site, this matches to a #16 camloc (1.06 inches in the catalog) and (after another bout with the magnifying glass), I see a 1 in front of the 6 that I originally took as a tool mark rather than a part of the number. Aircraft Spruce doesn't carry the #16, but Milspec does (and stated that they're the supplier to Aircraft Spruce). This is a "very long" and "unusual" camloc, but I was able to order them (by phone as Milspec doesn't have an online order form). They'll be here next week. Note, the Milspec web site includes a page with the overall length of each camloc, should you need it. Yes, I have the 6-tooth internal locking washer that goes on the inside of the panel. (I ordered new ones with the new camlocs as I doubt that I can remove the old ones in re-usable condition.) Pete Masterson aeonix1@...
