South Padre Christmas/New Year's Break
Wallace:

I'm not an Interstate kind of person unless I'm in a hurry. Trying to find a
few Historical and/or fun places to show the grandkids and have a little fun.
Haven't been to SP since 1977. Thanks for the info.

Leroy, I've been going to SPI for 30+ years and would offer a suggestion. If
you want to stay off the interstate, and only if that suits you, I would look at
going to Uvalde and then across the bottom of Texas through McAllen and into
Harlingen that way. It is much more remote and good if you don't like
interstate. The interstate from SA to Robstown is usually lightly traveled. Look
at the map and decide. Just a thought.

We reserved from Dec 23 -30 at Destination RV, South Padre. We will spend the
week or so earlier in the Texas Hill Country. How long does it take to drive
from SA, TX to South Padre. Trying to work an unstructured schedule. Thanks,

Since I am posting information on the Lone Star Birds Rallies, and
several people have asked us about whether South Padre is on the
agenda for this year-end, .....

I will remind everyone that this will be the 10th Annual (for some of
us) South Padre Island Texas Christmas/New Years Bluebird Breakaway.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend, whether you own a Bird or
not. It is a totally unofficial and unscripted gathering. Last year,
there were 10 Birds that spent at least some of the break period down
there. We typically spend any where between December 23 and January 2
down there - varies by year depending where Christmas falls.

We stay at the following location http://destinationsouthpadre.com/
and just enjoy the good weather, good friends, good seafood, good
margaritas (oh yeah!) and recharge the old batteries for the coming
new year.

Feel free to join us.
