Ok, The Pekins stays...
I believe the 1981 generator is like my 1982 FC35 generator and if so
the generator battery gets its charge from a factory modification across the aux Battery solenoid that is located under the side steps attached to the inside frame rail. Across the solenoid is a 30 amp circuit breaker and a 30 amp diode that will then charge the battery whether the Cat engine is running or the generator is running and the chargers are doing it thru this same circuit. However with that said I found in my generator control box that the Kohler charging system was still inside the box and only had to be connected to then charge the generator battery whenever the generator was running.
